For owner Bret Jackson, The Outpost isn’t just a business — it’s a lifelong story come full circle. Growing up on Thompson Lake, Bret spent his childhood surrounded by family, friends, and the simple joys of Maine summers — swimming off his family’s island, laughing with friends at Pismo Beach, and playing ball at the local fields and courts. Those days instilled in him a deep love for community, for connection, and for the feeling of coming together over something good.


The Outpost has always been more than just a place — it’s been a gathering spot, a landmark, and a part of what makes life on Thompson Lake special.
